How much does a wedding dress cost?

For an average wedding dress you will pay around 2,000 euros. For this, you get a quality dress with handmade finishes and appliques. For a low-budget wedding dress you pay 300 to 800 euros. These dresses are of lower quality and are often not handmade and finished. Before trying on wedding dresses, it is wise to have a budget set up. This will prevent you from falling in love with a dress you can't afford. Also keep in mind the cost of your accessories.

In a classic wedding, it is traditional for the father of the bride to cover the cost of the dress. Discuss this with your parents so you know where you stand.

Who do you take with you while trying on?

Bridal shops advise against taking too many people with you during the fitting process. Only bring people whose opinions you value. If you bring your entire family or group of friends, you quickly become overwhelmed. This makes it difficult to keep to yourself. Which dress do you like? That is what matters.

What is the delivery time of a wedding dress?

A wedding dress has an average delivery time of 4 to 6 months. It is therefore beneficial if you pick and order your most beautiful wedding dress on time.

It is also possible to purchase a dress last-minute. However, your choice will be limited. For this reason, bridal shops recommend making an appointment in time. It is a shame if your most beautiful dress is not available in your size.

Which wedding dress fits my figure?

Let's start with the most important rule: Any dress you like will suit you, regardless of your figure. However, if you can't decide, or don't know what you are looking for, there are guidelines that can help. With a dress that suits your figure, you emphasise the points you are proud of and hide the points you find less beautiful.

Apple figure

Characteristics of an apple figure are shoulders and hips of the same width with a somewhat rounder, full waist. Many women with an apple figure are insecure about their waistline and are therefore best to choose an A-line dress. These dresses emphasise the bust, and reduce the waist as the dress flares slightly.

Hourglass figure

Women with an hourglass figure have a narrow waist with fuller breasts and hips. With this figure, it is nice to emphasise your big plus: The waist. As a result, tight mermaid models and fit&flare dresses fit your body perfectly.

Pear figure

Characteristics of a pear figure are a narrow upper body, with large hips, thighs and buttocks. Many women with a pear figure are insecure about the proportions of their bodies. With an A-line dress, or classic princess dress, you will conceal your hips, and draw attention to your narrow upper body. Instead, do you want to draw attention to your beautiful hips? Then go for a sleek mermaid dress.

Straight figure

With a straight figure, your hips, waist and shoulders run in the same line. Many women with a straight figure want to emphasise their waistline. To achieve this, it's best to wear a boho wedding dress pick a, A-line dress, or low-waisted A-line dress. These dresses will make your waist and curves stand out in the best possible way.

Which jewellery matches my wedding dress?

What jewellery you wear on your wedding day is entirely up to you. Still can't figure it out? Then the guidelines below may help you.

Chains

Choose a necklace that matches the neckline of your finest wedding dresses. With a strapless neckline, it is better not to wear large necklaces. This will hide your beautiful neckline and break up the effect of the dress. With a high neckline, you prefer not to wear a necklace, or go for a choker. Your white will prevent the chain from hanging over the fabric. With a boat neckline, it is best to wear a simplistic necklace with a pendant. Again, less is more.

Earrings

With a quiet, simplistic dress, you can go wild with earrings. Choose long earrings with lots of details, for example. With the most beautiful wedding dresses with lots of appliques and embellishments are better to opt for simple earrings. Think buttons made of crystals or pearls.

Colour

Also, the colour of your most beautiful wedding dress determines which jewellery looks good with the overall look. With an ivory dress, go for gold jewellery. With a white dress, match white gold or silver jewellery. A champagne-coloured dress goes well with gemstone jewellery.

How do you clean a wedding dress?

After your wedding day your dress is no longer spick and span. The train will be covered in dust and dirt and there will be spots here and there. Before you put on your finest wedding dress store or sell it, it is wise to put it in a soapy water. Place the dress in a bathtub with mild detergent. Rub over the stains and then leave the dress for a while. By the end of the day, your dress will be as good as new!

What do you do with your wedding dress after the wedding?

Many people salvage their finest wedding dress in the closet to look at it from time to time and think back to that beautiful day. If you place little value on the dress and have enough with the wedding photos, you can also choose to sell the dress on Marketplace or Vinted.
